My final blog is a thank you to Indium Corporation for a fantastic summer. This has been a great experience all around for me. I have learned so much, and done so many new and interesting things. Everyone has been so kind and helpful throughout this program. This is truly not your average internship. To everyone at Indium Corporation, I would like to say thank you.
No other internship would have made such an impact. I have had the opportunity to run tests that I have never run before. I designed and tested my own experiment. I had the chance to travel to see another company, as well as present my work to people around the world. The data I have collected from my project will actually be used to improve products and grow the company, and that is something that doesn’t happen at many internships.
I would like to thank Dawn Roller and Jim McCoy for setting up the Lunch and Learns. You can learn a lot at any internship, but other internships don’t have lunch and learns. Having the chance to learn about professional development, and learning how to succeed in your career is unique to Indium Corporations program, and the things I learned every Wednesday will be invaluable throughout my life.
I would also like to thank the whole R&D team, especially Jonathan Minter. I was not actually an R&D intern, but everyone in the department treated me as one, and it made learning and running experiments a great experience. At certain points, Jonathan essentially had two interns, as he showed myself and JJ all the different instruments and tests we run here. He didn’t have to show me anything, but he was more than happy to do it, and I learned so much about R&D and experimentation from that experience.
Finally, I would like to thank my supervisor, Andy Mackie, for everything he has done. He has helped and taught me so much, not just about the science and knowledge side, but about what he does, and how to interact and manage others. At first I wasn’t sure about sharing an office, impeding on his space, but it’s been a great opportunity to watch and learn from the side, and things I picked up on from just being there will be invaluable. The research and experiment side was great too. Andy had a great plan for me. Through my project, he introduced me to lots of people, and showed me places all over the company. He gave me experience visiting other companies, as well as getting me experience talking to Indium Corporation employees around the world. All his guidance and help will be so helpful to me throughout my career and beyond and I am extremely grateful to him for this whole summer.
This has been a great summer. Looking back, it’s amazing how fast 10 weeks goes, and even more amazing to think how much I did throughout those 10 weeks. To everyone at Indium Corporation who helped make this summer a great experience, thank you.
Thanks for everything
Bryan
