The second most important thing in my life is to find a job that I am excited to wake up for every day. It’s a close runner up to the most important thing in my life, which is definitely coffee. So, thank you, Indium Corporation, for supplying the employees with endless amounts of coffee.
Morning, for me, consists of waking up at 6am to the sound of my mom or dad entertaining my four month old puppy (thank’s mom and dad for not making me wake up any earlier to do that.) While driving to work, I somehow always end up listening to the same Blake Shelton song on repeat for the whole 30 minute drive, but I’m not complaining. Getting to work in the morning is one of the best parts of the day, because, despite how early it is, everyone always greets you with a smiling face.
I spend a lot of my work day editing intern blogs, attending meetings with my supervisors when appropriate, and eagerly awaiting the next assignment I am given. The thing that makes Indium Corporation different is that I am not given busy work. The slogan for Indium Corporation’s Summer Internship Program is, “Not your average internship,” and it stays true to that. No matter what assignment I am given, I always feel that it is of importance to everyone around me, whether it’s writing internal announcements, or fixing sentence structures for blog posts.
The Marcom department at Indium Corporation has welcomed me with open arms, and I could not be more grateful for that. Each member of the team has their own distinctive personally, which is a key component in their thriving workplace dynamic. Getting to share an office with the team is my favorite part about this internship because I get to learn more about them every day. I love sharing laughs with them; it makes this internship more fun than it already is.
Every day, the team teaches me something new. I have already been able to advance my writing and design skills tremendously, and it’s only the second full week. One of the best things about my supervisors is their use of constructive criticism. Even if I mess up on a project, they make sure to always reinforce that what I have done is good work, but changes could be made to make it better. Because of this, I am not afraid to ask the team for help, which has made a big difference in my attitude at work.
Although the structure of most things I do daily is the same, the content is always different, which is why this internship has been so exciting. I am very thankful to the Indium Corporation internship program for providing me with incredible supervisors, and coffee, lots of coffee.
Best,
Brittney
