The United States, and the world as a whole, has benefited greatly from the hard work and skills of the United States' leaders in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math. This is something that the United States has recognized and has worked to improve the teaching of the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) in schools all across the country. They believe that it is important that all children and young adults should be practicing problem solving skills and really learning to understand and think deeply about each problem. This is being done all across the country in specific STEM classes.
Indium Corporation recognizes the need for schools to push STEM careers and is taking steps to further their exposure and experience with the technical field. Being "Utica's Technology Company®", Indium Corporation provides a helping hand in STEM programs by going to STEM fairs and giving STEM students tours of their facilities. This is something that is greatly helping the growth of STEM programs.
The United States is pushing for STEM teachers so that the program can fully flourish. My mom recently became the K-6 STEM teacher at New Hartford Central Schools, which gave me an inside look at the STEM program. The STEM program is designed in a way that will greatly increase the interest in STEM fields in a fun way. Walking into a normal classroom and a STEM classroom are two very different experiences. The STEM classroom looks like a kid's fantasy; kids are playing on the computer, building robots, or making a racetrack all while getting experience making problem solving decisions and getting exposure to technology. The kids are using basic programming to create computer games or use it to code their toy to navigate a racetrack; being in a classroom that allows the children to come up with creative games while also teaching coding is an amazing experience for kids at such a young age. The kids are not reading out of a textbook or practicing problems, they have a fun safe environment to learn which is something that is highly underrated.
The STEM fields are extremely important in the world, and the United States is falling behind in the development of these fields. It is important for technology companies to set the standard. This is why companies like Indium Corporation are setting a good precedent by nurturing the program, especially considering that the Utica, NY area is becoming rich in technology.
