Someone sent me a video the other day that mentioned Indium Corporation solder. I watched the video thinking: regardless of what they say about the solder later on, this is a good video on soldering tools and techniques. As it turns out, I found it to be a good introduction to the fundamentals of hand soldering in general.
This was part of a 4 video series on different aspects of hand soldering. Part 1 discusses the tools needed to get started, and some advice to make it more enjoyable. Part 2 deals with techniques of hand soldering. Part 3 dives into soldering wires and heat-shrink wrapping them, and part 4 discusses de-soldering components.
As it turns out, Kevin (the author) is really into soldering. Along with his own projects, he also finds time to help kids learn how to assemble electronics through Cache Makers, an organization responsible for helping over a thousand 9-15 year olds get into technology. Pretty cool!
Make sure you watch this video series!
