Our engineering group recently recieved a personal win when a prospective customer we have been working with for years finally took notice of out Au/Sn advancements and agreed to run a full evaluation of them for their upcoming product development projects. I was so excited that I wanted to shout out the news to the world, but wasn't sure this was the appropriate venue for that. After reading Jim Hisert's blog though, I realized, what the heck, he's done it. As recognition for this advancement, here's Jim's world shoutout to AuSn business growth in response to our continued development work.

Where would we be without advancement? Sure, some of our modern world has progressed due to needs, but many creature comforts that we enjoy everyday were perfectly fine before they evolved. A great example of this is the television set. Many of us enjoy watching T.V. – and the average screen size 10 years ago seemed to be fine. So why does the average screen size keep growing? The answer may just be "why not?". If a product provides addition benefits for a comparable cost, it is difficult to justify not upgrading equipment or materials.
My affection for 80Au/20Sn is public, I won't even try to disguise it. With that being said, I am happy to announce that this is another good thing can get even better. At Indium, many forms of Au/Sn are being taken to the next level – either by further tightening our tolerances through new manufacturing methods, or by developing fine-scale technology to process even smaller precision products (like even smaller preforms and micro-spheres). Why push Au/Sn technology to a new level?
…The answer is simply – "why not?"
