The other day someone asked me what the most rewarding part of my job is. I haven’t found the right words yet, but I’ll try to explain my answer the best I can:
Pay doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things – a lot of rich people are completely miserable. Travel is interesting, but I’d rather not live out of a suitcase or miss engagements at home. Maybe it’s brand pride is the best part of this job.
While I was still in school I worked for companies that just sold the lowest priced product to as many people as possible – without caring if it works after it passes by the register and out the door. It’s much more fun to really know what you are talking about, to provide the perfect product to a customer, and to follow through and be there for someone who is much more of a friend than a customer in some situations. When it comes down to it, you have to feel good about what you do everyday to be happy. You have to feel like you make a difference and see the results of your efforts. I think that is the best part of my job.
